Anthropic Memory
Nov. 2020Interactive Installation | Media Art
Anthropic Memory is a web-based interactive portraiture experience. Through motion capture and machine learning, the user's image will be pixelated. At the same time, the pixels begin to float, distort, and eventually dissipate. The work aims to embody the human image that may be engulfed by big data in the future in a concrete way.
With big data thriving and deeply rooted in every aspect of our lives, will there come a day when data will bite us back? The real identity of the human individual is no longer important, but is replaced by the information expressed by digital strings. At that point, how can humans fight back?
Inspired by the way that Refik Anadol utilized various kind of data to generate visual effects and promot public thoughts, glitched pixels and Perlin Noise can be found in the work as ways to indicate the smashed identities.
